Wildflowers are Blooming Soon (hopefully)

The entrance to Short Canyon off HWY 395, one of the best places to find local wildflowers

We finally had some rain last weekend and possibly a little more coming this weekend. It is getting to be wildflower season here in the Mojave. This time last year there were fields of flowers everywhere. I have been going through my photos from last year in preparation for the Wildflower festival that will be held here in Ridgecrest, CA on the weekend of April 13- 15th.

Desert Primrose Blooming

I am on the committee for creating the festival and we have several new event locations and events this year including lectures on wildflowers, a wildflower exhibit at the maturango museum put together by local experts who always know where to find the flowers even in a dry year Also there will be family events at the Desert Empire fairgrounds, vendors including the garden clubs and the 4D art group, of which I am a part, along with about 40 other vendors as well.

Mojave Sand Verbena

So here are a few of my pics from last year and if you would like to see more here is a link to my photography website www.cherylmcdonald-art.com
